This image is skirting really very closeto being astounding. The groundwork is in place to get there but a few little things stop it fromreally reaching the potential of a photo like this.

Skill wise a lot of good knowledge is shown. Framing is nice, particularly with the little frame within a frame you get from the large tree on the left and the little clump of trees on the right. Exposure is also well balanced between getting the flare from the low sun and bringing out enough detail in the trees.

Where I think the real killer punch would come is at least in one place perhaps a little out of your control for this particular shot but comes down to a couple of options for the same effect. The shot lacks a real hook, something that refuses to let the eye just glance by. I think you could add this in one of two ways. The first is going to be down to luck with conditions and would be to have the light not just flaring in the mist but creating rays between the trees piercing the gloom like stage lights through smoke. It is fairly often done but is one of those things in nature that never really becomes old when you get that moment. It would also boost the foreground by highlighting areas of that in warm light. Light is fickle though and to an extent is out of a photographers control, so the second option is a little more within the everyday grasp. This is to find something to mark the photo out as something special in the composition. The foreground here is nothing bad but is lacking in anything specific to make it stand out. Searching around for something to add interest would boost the shot, a nicely curving path or a pretty clearing maybe. Someone that takes it from a pretty shot through the trees to an accomplished landscape.

By all accounts a pretty, enjoyable photo but one needing a little extra to really leave it strong in people's memories and draw the viewer in fully.
